so umm, my pc died
As the title says, my big ass pc decided to die on me,
I've
barely mentioned it in the past so I think it needs a proper
introduction, a couple months ago, my friend gave me a big ddr3 era
desktop pc, I took it because I fell in love with the 4 ddr3 slots for
up to 32 gigabytes of ram, the absolutely overkill number of sata ports
and the cool-looking case,
it
initially had only 4 gigabytes of ram (that I quickly swapped with 32
gigabytes in batches of 8), an intel core i3 2nd gen and a shitty GT
card if i remember correctly,
for the first few months, I used it as a homelab, due to the large ammount of ram and sata pots, but once the shitty GPU died, I decided it was time to give it a proper use and I bought a GTX 670 for it, and I used it as a "retro" windows 7 gaming machine,
after some time, I decided it was time to update the cpu also, so I bought the fastest cpu supported by that socket (for reference an i7 3770k)
aaaand... it didn't work, bummer
I don't know if it's a BIOS issue or what but it simply doesn't post with that cpu inside
fast forward to a couple months and the pc starts to whine more and more until it stops posting with it's original CPU in it, that kinda destroyed me, I spent so much money to maintain this PC, from buying 5 monitors, the gpu, the ram, it was traumatizing
so, what am I gonna do now?
I'll probably just wait 'till my birthday and then buy a shitty optiplex or thinkstation that I can pimp to hell and back (or I'll just buy regular pc components and just build a modern machine from scratch)
